Enhance your Waring experience by becoming a volunteer. You will meet young artists from around the world as well as play a vital role in this unique musical event. You will meet other like minded people who love music and love helping nurture young talented pianists.

Our volunteers are the backbone of this biennial competition.

    • Over 30 dedicated volunteers donate two weeks of time to be at the competition to assist the contestants, the judges, the audience and the staff. Some of our volunteers are snowbirds, and arrive only a few days before the competition starts.
    • The Contestant Services Volunteers arrive by 8 am and don’t leave until the last contestant has performed for the day / evening. These volunteers include runners to accompany contestants to and from rehearsal rooms and to the stage door.
    • Audience Services include ushers and program book and accessory sales.
    • Board Member Volunteers help out as announcers and stage managers, to assist the contestants.
    • Host Families – kudos to Isabel Chapman, our Housing Chair! She tirelessly matches up host families with incoming contestants, not an easy task at all.
    • Transportation – these volunteers cheerfully pick up and drop off contestants from the airport or bus station, to or from the competition, to and from where they are staying, and to and from practice pianos (if their host family doesn’t have a piano.)

Join us as a Waring Ambassador – we are always looking for volunteers willing to talk with other groups about the Waring! So, if you like meeting and talking with people, then please contact the office and join us! (760-773-2575 / ann@vwipc.org)
